Mike Huck’s comments about the “Drunk In Love” singer backfire

For those that don’t know, Jon Stewart is pretty awesome at what he does. Whether he’s slinging his liberal political rhetoric in his Daily Show opening monologues on Comedy Central, or taking public government and media officials to task over their mishandling of tragedies like the Michael Brown shooing, or the Eric Garner indictment, the New York native consistently hits his mark.

Cue Mike Huckabee, former Fox News host of Huckabee and current 2016 Presidential hopeful, and his brand new book, God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy, which he was promoting when he copped a squat in the hot seat on a recent episode of The Daily Show. During his interview with Stewart, Huckabee was grilled on his recent comments about Beyonce‘s image, and the vulgarity on her latest album, the visual LP Beyonce, which has been debated continuously by everyone from pop critics to feminist groups and activists.

Beyonce is incredibly talented – gifted, in fact. She has an exceptional set of pipes and can actually sing. She is a terrific dancer – without the explicit moves best left for the privacy of her bedroom. Jay Z is a very shrewd businessman, but I wonder: Does it occur to him that he is arguably crossing the line from husband to pimp by exploiting his wife as a sex object?

Stewart brought up these comments, and went on to add some perspective by playing some footage of Huckabee playing the bass guitar on a stage adjacent to Detroit rock singer Ted Nugent as they belted out “Cat Scratch Fever,” which is, well, not a song about pussycats. Stewart went on to point out that this footage wasn’t released through a controlled medium, but played on national television, much like Beyonce’s music videos or her Grammy Awards performance, where some of her “explicit” moves are on display. In summation, Stewart had this to say about Huckabee’s perspective, or lack thereof.

You excuse that type of crudeness because you agree with his [Ted Nugent] stance on firearms. You don’t approve of Beyonce because she seems alien to you.

You can watch the clip of their interview above. Mike, next time you take on Jon Stewart, maybe have all your ducks in a row, not just the ones you think that matter.
